Primary English Conference
Phases Primary & Special Schools
Categories Teaching and Learning, English
This year we're joined by Tom Palmer an author who specialises in writing books for ‘reluctant readers’. His books have been shortlisted for various awards and his work is ‘’making a valuable contribution to improve pupils’ writing’’ (Ofsted)

Tom was himslef a reluctant reader and writer at school age. Arriving at high school he was not allowed to do English Lit or languages because his English language was so weak.  Age 17, Tom found reading for pleasure, through football. and thanks his mum and Leeds United for this.

Tom will talk about how reading changed everything for him. How it gave him confidence, empathy, dreams, hope and – most importantly – happiness. He will also discuss how he tries to pass that on to children in schools and libraries through his books and school visits.

During the day you will also attend 3 workshops and have the opportunity to meet with suppliers in our exhibition space.
