School Swimming Programme
Confidence gained through learning to swim gives access to many other â€‹water-based recreational activities.

The number of year 6 pupils leaving primary school able to swim at least 25 metres has increased from 40% in 2006 to 90% by July 2015 in Liverpool.

This has been achieved by a concerted commitment to swimming from primary schools and the provision of a centrally co-ordinated swimming, including a “top up” programme during the Summer term.

Year 6 Top Up Programme

The programme will cover 10 days intensive lessons for any year 6 child that is not able to swim 25 metres.

The dates for the programme are Monday 5th June through till Friday 16th June. These are the two weeks immediately after the Summer half term.

The hope is that this will ensure that the children are able to attend all of the sessions, without interfering with residentials, end of year trips, leaver assemblies and also common transfer day.
