Reading Quality Mark

Supported by the National Literacy Trust
Our Reading Quality Mark (RQM) has been developed with a focus to promote reading for enjoyment amongst children.

The programme is accessible to all schools who feel they meet the criteria.

Our RQM was recently highlighted as part of the Literacy Trust Impact Report 2014-15

Schools can be accredited with a bronze, silver or gold award, which recognises the effort that they have made in promoting the joy of reading amongst their pupils.

In order to attain these awards schools will be assessed across six themes, and whether they meet the criteria for bronze, silver or the gold award.

Key themes include:
  • Leadership and management
  • Workforce development
  • Reading promotion
  • Reading events and groups
  • School wide opportunities for reading for enjoyment
  • Family/community involvement/ public library service
This is an exciting project that schools should take full advantage of, in order to increase the achievements of their pupils.

“We are delighted to be supporting this initiative. Reading is incredibly important and encouraging children to enjoy literature helps develop a habit that lasts a lifetime.”
Andy Parkinson from the National Literacy Trust
The full RQM programme is available for £599 +VAT which includes:
•             An electronic copy of the LRQM criteria
•             A half day visit from an assessor
•             The writing of the assessment report
•             A certificate for successfully accredited schools

In addition, we also offer a ‘Health check’ visit, where an assessor will work with your reading ambassador to identify how effectively your school is currently meeting the RQM criteria.

This visit will support schools in determining whether they are ready to progress with the full RQM assessment. The cost for a half day 'Health Check' visit is £300+VAT

If you want to familiarise yourself with the RQM criteria before hand, you can order a copy for £50+VAT (which is then deducted from the £599+VAT if you decide to proceed.)

Schools outside the Liverpool area may be charged additional costs to cover travel time and expenses.
