In line with recent updates to the SEND statutory guidance, we have have produced a new SEND Policy & Guidance 2014-15 to use in school.

SEN Information reports  is a statutory report that schools must complete to inform parents & young people of provison avilable in schools.

Supporting Children & Young People with Medical Conditions in Schools NEW JULY -
With the introduction of the DfE guidance in September for Special Education Needs and Disability and supporting pupils with medical conditions, we have produced a policy to support your school.

Early Help Assessment Tool (EHAT)

The use of early help is imperative for a child to achieve and have the best opportunities.

Liverpool City Council has introduced the Early Help Assessment Tool (E-HAT) - this replaces the Common Assessment Framework (CAF.)

Provision Mapping – a whole school overview
 
Phase – Primary, Secondary, Special             
Audience – SLT, SENCO
 
Overview - Provision mapping takes into account the full scope of provision, including high quality whole class teaching, guided and group work and individual interventions in order to identify and overcome potential barriers to learning and meet the needs of all pupils. The Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice recommends the use of provision maps to support the planning and evaluation of provision and intervention. This half-day workshop will share ideas and assist you in developing this area of practice within your setting.

Writing Successful Outcomes

Overview – With the introduction of Education, Health and Care Plans to replace statements of special educational needs there is an emphasis on writing outcomes that support children and young people’s achievement and prepare them for adulthood. This half-day workshop will enable you to write SMART outcomes and consider how these are reviewed and evaluated.

Being an ASD friendly school

Overview – This course will examine best practice and strategies that can be used to develop effective provision for children and young people with ASD. It will support the development of a strategic plan that will impact across the whole school to support children with ASD.

Demonstrating effective SEN provision ready for an Ofsted inspection

Overview – This workshop that will help you prepare for inspection and examine your evidence base of the progress and achievement of pupils with SEN.  It will provide you with ‘top tips’ in creating and presenting case studies, key practices and policies, SEN data and the school’ self evaluation of SEN provision including the SEN Information Report and website requirements.

This course can be offered as a whole school INSET.
